| Your typical casual gamers |
Ok, i forgot about my blog for a long time but now i have decided to get back to work because in this dark time of videogaming and technology a lot of people have lost their way. Right now we see continuous attempts at destroying our beloved hobby. The cancer that is killing videogames as we know and love them appears in many forms: from the rise of the so-called "casuals" to the micro(shitty)games that infest the "app-stores" (i'm gonna write something about them, just wait), to the DLC invasion that strips away features from games just to charge gamers more, to a lot of other things, buried under mountains of shovelware.
A hard time for videogamers of yesterday to live in, sure, but also a hard time for newcomers, because unless they research a bit about the story of videogames in general, they'll never understands that there are a lot of issues with the current situation.
All this introduction for what? Might as well begin with a simple example of this problems:
YEAH. NO.
Let me begin: Angry Birds is currently priced at 0.99$ which is about a dollar too high for a glorified flash games, take a site of your choice and you'll find a shit-ton of "clones" of your beloved game. Problem here is that those clones are, in fact the original concept repeated over and over to soulless ripoffs of ripoffs, the last being Angry Birds. This all happened because of the evil overlord of information technology in general: Apple.
This name will almost always return when speaking of shitty games and for a lot of reasons, but for now let's concentrate on Angry Birds: when Super Mario Bros came out 25 years ago, it was a revolutionary game: in a sea of bad games (see AVGN ) it was a game with good controls and unchallanged gameplay, while what gamers get with Angry Birds is essentially an overpriced ripoff of a flash game.
Even more stupid, Angry Birds creator says that nintendo games are 49$ pieces of plastic [Joystiq].... right, because they are selling 0.99$ pieces of nothing at all. Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel are FAR better than a little timewaster like Angry Birds, shame that a lot of people are too dumb to understand this.
